Outfitted with Cobra's NightWatch technology--which features solid-state, electroluminescent backlighting that fully illuminates the radio's functions and buttons--the radio maximizes night vision while minimizing eye fatigue, making it safe and convenient for drivers everywhere. Of course, the device also excels because of its 40 CB radio channels and heavy-duty dynamic microphone (with a generous 9-foot cord), which keeps drivers connected whether on the highways or in the city. Drivers can dynamically adjust the mic level for increased voice clarity--a must when overcoming the noise of gravelly diesel engines--or fine-tune the audio levels via the three-position control. Further adding to the audio clarity is Cobra's exclusive SoundTracker system, which reduces static by up to 90 percent for clean, precise transmission and reception of CB signals.

While CB channels are the radio's main currency, the 25 WXNWST also receives seven weather channels from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The radio even includes an emergency weather alert that sounds an alarm when threatening conditions--such as a tornado or other hazard--is nearby, even when the CB is turned off. Unreliable and requires special antenna

I purchased this CB radio as a replacement for another Cobra CB that had failed. Only when I read the instruction manual did I find out that this radio requires a special antenna to get good reception on both the CB and weather channels. I elected to use my standard antenna, and CB section of the radio appeared to function very well for a short time. The radio failed after 6 to 8 hours of service. I checked the condition and SWR of the antenna circuit both before and after installing the radio and found no problem with them.

This CB is the best CB I have had in my life time and I already had 3 CB's besides this one and this one is the best of them. Its unique design and mobility can set up to a cigarette lighter in your car or truck although you might want an adaptor since it only comes with the cords and nothing to plug into the cigarette lighter. When you are talking to someone else your voice goes to them crystal clear and there voice is crystal clear too. I have not found yet why it has a sound tracker system since it does not clear the signal up anyway all it does is make it louder. Although it clears it up a small bit of the signal. When talking to someone squelch becomes useful to get rid of the static. This Cb is a best buy especially with the super saver shipping and no tax

The previous review that mentions antennas are key to a good CB setup is correct. For a normal CB user I would recommend either the Wilson lil' Wil or the Wilson 500 antenna. Both are magnetic mount antennas. The lil' Wil antenna is a relatively small antenna and it's only around $39.00. Actually any Wilson CB antenna will be fine. Also, to do a good job at setting up your antenna you should purchase an SWR meter. They are not expensive. You only need the meter connected inline between the radio and antenna when you are adjusting the antenna. Once you are done adjusting the antenna you can take the meter out of the connection and connect the antenna directly to the radio. Don't be fooled by cheap ordinary CB antennas like you will find at radio shack. Do not settle for anything less then a Wilson antenna. Cobra and Uniden both make fabulous CB radios so either make will be fine.

If you are looking for the most bang for your buck, this is it. In this price-range you just cannot beat the performance and features of this radio. The compact size is perfect for tight spaces and the modern design looks great. I highly recomend this CB.

I purchased this particular CB because of the front firing speaker. The size is perfect for IN dash installations, and it is very user friendly. After installation I tested it out to 8 miles which was more then I expected.
Overall I'm very pleased with the price and quality of this product.

I have used CB'S for over twenty years, This one is the best I have used in that time. I might add that for me it is the "fanciest" one I have ever bought. I do find the weather channel to be useful as I commute across the country. The ergonomic mike is a pleasure to use, I expect to see copycats on the market soon. You could spend a lot more for a CB and not get any better performance.

This product seems to be built well and Uniden is a good brand in CB radio.

Pros:
* Included ergonomic mic is noise-canceling (cuts out your stereo noise, wind noise, etc.)
* Weather bands are nice and work anywhere
* Wire this straight to your battery and it is nearly static-free on the highway. Very clean receive on this unit.
* PA output is louder than other radios I've tried
* Antenna warning light should keep you from keying up and frying your radio if your antenna system has failed

Cons:
* Have not found anything major yet

Notes:
* DSC is only good for very close transmissions. Leave it off if you wish to hear signals past 1/2 mile
* Delta Tune doesn't really do much so don't waste your time trying to adjust it
* This unit is basically the same as the Cobra 29 on the inside

When I ordered the radio, I was surprised to find it being shipped and delivered on time. Very leary about using the internet for unseen purchases as I have almost no experience in it. Very pleased with the entire process and the credit card charge was for the exact amount. The price of the radio was far cheaper than in the department stores and the quality of it is extremely good.
